The Walk
The Walk is one of the best weeks of the year. It beats Spring Break by far and trails behind Christmas. It’s a church retreat to Panama City Beach for five days with North Point Community Church.
Our condos are on the water at Edgewater Beach Resort. Unfortunately, we were right in the middle of Tropical Storm Debby and couldn’t do much in the water because of relentless rain and...

How Do You Feel? In 750 Words
It’s very important to get your thoughts out.
I would know. I’m one of those bottled-up types, and when something’s bothering me I’ll be in an eerily great mood for days, and then I’ll just sink into the lowest rut. I’ll turn into a Squidward Tentacles for a week.
I started keeping a journal last year to help out with that. I love my journal and it works...

What to Watch When...You're Tired of Cliche...
The love stories seen in movies can bore one to death. There is a formula that every director uses every time there’s a demand for romance and comedy and TRAGEDY. They tried to mix it up a couple years ago with the new ‘romaction’ , i.e. Knight and Day, which was good, and The Killers, which was unbelievably awful. The formula was exactly the same, to my disappointment, just with...

Cool & Casual
Head Scarf: Thrifted from the Clothing Warehouse.
Shirt: Banana Republic.
Shorts: Thrifted. American Eagle.
Shoes: Payless. Get ‘Em
It is finally getting hot around here. A call to shorts!
These shorts are actually striped. You can’t tell in these photos.
I thought I hated glittery things (I don’t like diamonds), but I love these shoes. They give everything...

How to Boost Self Confidence: Be Yourself
collage by me. all photos from teen vogue and seventeen magazine.
Fitting in is important to our species i.e. Teen Human Being. Fitting in shouldn’t be important because fitting in fails our needs.
People say they want to meet new people. They know people that are like them, people that like the things they like or do the things they do, and if that was enough, they wouldn’t...

What to Listen to When...Summer's Coming
Summer’s Comin’ from sweeteelou on 8tracks.
Summer music must be differentiated from all other music. You cannot listen to ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ in the summer, even though it is the best Christmas song ever. You could, but it’s not encouraged. *slowly pulls up iPod playlist and commences playing of aforementioned song*
You need music that you can...

Love & Pearls
Dress: Thrifted from Rag-O-Rama
Necklace: Queen of Hearts Consignment
Shoes: DSW
This is what I wore to the dance performance on Saturday.
This dress is one of the best I’ve ever thrifted from Little Five Points and I bought the pearl necklace the day before. Have a wonderful Wednesday and watch for the Summer Playlist on Friday.

Day in the Life of Sweeteelou
This Saturday, I went to the Goat Farm Art Center with my mom to see a dance performance.
I figured Goat Farm was just a name. But you are on a farm. The center is an old cotton gin mill. The buildings have broken windows and wide doors. There’s no sidewalks, which means excessive tripping, falling, and skidding for this kid.
There were no bathrooms in our building so we went to a...

Besides a Swimsuit and Naked Feet
If things were my way, I would wear two things in the summer. An all purpose bathing suit and no shoes. Maybe I would need sunglasses or a cover up so I can go into restaurants without violating the ‘no shoes, no shirt, no service’ policy. There is a need for actual clothes in the summer and these are the ones I’ll tolerate when I’m not in my pajamas, watching My So Called...

Tips on Beating Summer Blues
I welcome summer and it’s raining.

About a week into the summer, the most blasphemous phrases are uttered: I’m so bored. zOMG. When is school gonna start? BOREDOM. I’d rather be eating maggots!
These words should never, ever, neverever exit...

Pattern Scramble
Today, I got my driver’s permit. The DMV is not the most pleasant environment to mull about in for two hours, but you can’t really complain about that kind of thing.
It didn’t rain today! I got outside and took photos for my first outfit post. Pattern mixing is my all time favorite trend. It’s so fun to play with. And I love these stackable rings from Urban Outfitters.

A Day in the Life of Sweeteelou
I meant to take a photo of my outfit today. But it rained.
So instead Ginger and I stayed inside.
I had fresh juice for breakfast and read a book.
In this chair.
The rain stopped so I put on my Wellies and went for a walk.
I saw a deer.
And the sewer.
I sat on the dry bit of the sewer and took a photo.
It’s sunny now. Fancy houses.
Recipe for the Fresh Juice:
3/4 cantaloupe

new beginnings
Hey, I’m Evan.
In the eighth grade, I decided that when I turned sixteen I would start my own fashion blog.
But I’m not sixteen [yet] and I don’t even want to start a blog that’s just about fashion. I want this blog to be about my experiences and creativity and inspiration, too.
This blog is for me, but I want it to inspire you too. I really like you, whoever...
